The Israeli occupation authorities released 37 Palestinian prisoners, including one woman, who were transferred via the Kerem Shalom crossing to the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross. In a press statement on Sunday, the ICRC said its teams facilitated the transfer of the released prisoners from the Kerem Shalom crossing to the Nasser Medical Complex, and also helped them contact their families and reunite. The ICRC explained that since 2023, it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,700 detainees released in the same manner, noting that it has been unable to access prisoners in occupation prisons since October 2023. The ICRC stressed the need to be informed of the fate of all prisoners and their places of detention, and to allow its teams to access them, emphasizing that international humanitarian law requires humane treatment of prisoners, adequate detention conditions, and enabling them to communicate with their families. Media sources listed the names of the released prisoners, numbering 37, including Sawsan Midhat Deeb Abu Naji from Sheikh Radwan, Bassam Ahmed Ahmed Nasr from Jabalia, and Muhammad Ramadan Abdullah Assaf from Jabalia, and others from different areas of the Gaza Strip. The ICRC noted that the transfer took place via the Kerem Shalom crossing, confirming that its role was limited to facilitating the transfer and communication between the released and their families.
