Bus driver stabbed in Ramat Gan: "The murder is closer than ever"
A bus driver from Derech Egged company was stabbed this evening in Ramat Gan during a ride and was taken to the hospital with stab wounds. The company reported his condition is stable and police opened an investigation. The Public Transport Drivers Organization reported a rise of more than 12% in physical violence against drivers in the past month, and the organization's chairman Israel Ganun called to expand the security unit.
A bus driver from Derech Egged, a subsidiary of Egged, was stabbed this evening (Tuesday) during a ride in Ramat Gan. He was attacked during his work and was taken to the hospital. The bus company reported that police opened an investigation and that the driver's condition is stable. According to data from the Public Transport Drivers Organization under the National Labor Federation, in the past month alone there was a rise of more than 12% in physical violence against public transport drivers. The organization's chairman, Israel Ganun, said: "Again and again we cry out about the rising violence against drivers. It is time to expand the security unit for public transport across the country. Unfortunately, the day a driver will be murdered is closer than ever."
