Serbia, a landlocked country, has become one of the main tourist discoveries of the year, entering the top ten most dynamically developing destinations in the world. In the first five months of the year, tourist flow increased by almost 7% compared to the same period last year, reports Startlap. Serbia's Minister of Tourism and Youth, Hussein Memić, noted steady growth due to both domestic and foreign guests. Most tourists come from Turkey, Russia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia. Experts highlight the affordable budget, explosive growth of rural tourism (the number of homesteads grew from 700 to 1,900 in three years), and the cultural and gastronomic potential of Belgrade, several restaurants of which entered the Michelin Guide 2026. The main drivers of the season are the Danube region with Golubac Fortress, as well as Novi Pazar and the Pešter Plateau, attracting eco-tourism enthusiasts.
