Breakthrough for bone cancer patients? Experimental drug slows disease progression
A Phase 3 clinical trial in China found that the experimental drug HS-20093 slowed the progression of recurrent osteosarcoma in patients who had received at least two prior lines of treatment. The drug is not yet approved for marketing.
A Phase 3 clinical trial conducted in China found that an experimental drug called HS-20093 (Risrezumab vedotin) succeeded in delaying disease progression in patients with recurrent osteosarcoma – an aggressive and rare type of bone cancer that primarily affects children, adolescents, and young adults. The trial included patients whose disease had returned or continued to progress after at least two prior lines of treatment, a situation where treatment options are limited. The drug, belonging to a new generation of targeted therapies known as ADCs (antibody-drug conjugates), was developed by Chinese company Hansoh Pharmaceutical in collaboration with GSK, which holds rights outside China. The companies plan to submit an application for first approval in China. As of now, no participation of medical centers in Israel has been reported, and it is not known when the drug will be available in Israel.
