George said he spoke with relatives of victims, including the parents of British-Israeli musician Jake Marlowe, who was killed that day. He rejected accusations of genocide denial, saying he believes the conflict is a war, not an attempt to wipe out Palestine. He also criticized fellow musicians for not speaking out for the Jewish community. George announced he had cut ties with Tony Pontius, who managed his record label, over the song's release. His withdrawal from a London production of Jesus Christ Superstar was announced a day earlier.
