Border Police soldiers locate protected wildlife held in Tulkarm, suspect arrested

Border Police soldiers, Central District Border Police detectives, and Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors located two deer and two badgers that were being held illegally in a compound in the village of Shweika, near Tulkarm, last night (Thursday). During the operation, a suspect, a Tulkarm resident in his 60s, was arrested. The animals were transferred to the care of the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.

Border Police soldiers in Judea and Samaria, Central District Border Police detectives, and Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors located two deer and two badgers that were being held illegally in a compound in the village of Shweika, near Tulkarm, last night (Thursday). During the operation, a suspect, a Tulkarm resident in his 60s, was arrested. The operation was conducted as part of the "Return to Nature" case, being handled by the Central District Border Police, which deals with suspicions of illegal possession of protected wildlife. The forces raided the compound and conducted a search, during which the animals were found. Nature and Parks Authority inspectors performed the necessary professional procedures to sedate and capture the animals, and they were transferred for further care by the authority. The arrested suspect was transferred for further investigation by the Central District Border Police.
