Blow to United Torah Judaism: Petition to Halt 'Haredi Public' Campaign Dismissed

The chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Sohlberg, dismissed a petition filed by lawyers and the United Torah Judaism party against the outdoor campaign of the 'Haredi Public' faction. The petitioners argued that the campaign is misleading and unlawfully uses the letter 'Gimel' and branding associated with United Torah Judaism. The decision stated that there is no grounds for issuing an order, and the petition was dismissed. The faction clarified that the campaign continues as planned.

The petitioners sought to halt the campaign, claiming it misleads the public and unlawfully uses the letter 'Gimel' and the graphic style associated with United Torah Judaism. In a decision given after examining the respondents' response, it was determined that there is no grounds for issuing an order against the campaign, and therefore the petition was dismissed without granting relief or restricting the faction's activities. Following the decision, the 'Haredi Public' faction clarified that the campaign and the demand for representation continue as planned, in accordance with the law and with the approval of its legal advisors. The 'Haredi Public' party, led by Moti Leitner, is conducting an extensive campaign with the aim of gaining a place in the existing Haredi lists – United Torah Judaism and Shas. In United Torah Judaism, they explained that there is no chance they will receive a place, but the current game for them is a show of force – an attempt to prove they are worth a mandate, ahead of a possible merger with another right-wing party. From the 'Haredi Public' faction, it was stated: "Empty threats and frivolous lawsuits will not silence our voice – the tens of thousands of Haredim who are not represented by the veteran leadership. We will not stand idly by when there is a real threat to the continued existence of the Haredi public in the Land of Israel. There are no Haredi parties without the Haredi public."
