Israel's National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) announced an upcoming child allowance payment. Tomorrow, Thursday, funds will be deposited into the accounts of those eligible for this benefit. This is a regular state support program for families with children. The child allowance is a monthly payment to families in Israel for children up to age 18. In most cases, eligibility does not depend on parental income. The payment amount is determined by the number of children in the family and the specific child's ordinal position. Starting January 1, 2026, child allowance amounts are determined based on the child's place in the family. For the first child, 173 shekels per month is paid. For the second, third, and fourth children, 219 shekels each. For the fifth child and each subsequent child, the payment is 173 shekels. Typically, the child allowance is transferred to the mother. However, under certain circumstances, the recipient may be the father or another person officially recognized as entitled to the payment. Funds are transferred to the bank account designated for the benefit. According to the latest data from the National Insurance Institute, as of May 1, 2026, there were 1,297,143 families with children receiving the child allowance in Israel. These figures show the scale of the state program: payments reach more than 1.2 million families nationwide.
