Parents at the "Shkama" kindergarten in the local council of Kochav Yair Tzur Yigal refuse to send their children to the kindergarten following a bedbug infestation that has been ongoing for months. The children return home with bites all over their bodies, suffering from severe itching, crying at night, and lack of sleep. According to the parents, the problem began last year. The council tried to address the issue through pest control, thorough cleaning, and moving the children to temporary alternative buildings, but the bites did not stop. The mother of one child said she took her son to a doctor, who diagnosed bedbug bites. Another father described his son's condition: "It looks like a rash, it's all over his body. Hands, legs, stomach, and back. Last night he didn't sleep all night, cried and scratched." The council responded that it has been handling the matter for six months in coordination with the district doctor and professional factors, and that comprehensive pest control against bedbugs, fleas, and pigeon lice was carried out. It was also stated that a temporary move to another kindergarten was offered to the parents, but the parents demand a root treatment and not temporary solutions.
