Billions 'Disappeared' — Bituah Leumi Reports Shocking Error
Bituah Leumi corrected its 2025 report on the 'Savings for Every Child' program due to a technical error that understated profits by billions of shekels. For example, Altshuler Shaham's profit was 4,079.9 million instead of 79.9 million. Total fund profits were revised from 3,249.6 to 8,249.6 million. Accumulated profit stands at 8.85 billion shekels.
Israel's National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) published a corrected report for the 'Savings for Every Child' program for 2025, revealing a technical error in the presentation of profit data. In the initial version, several figures were understated by billions of shekels. For instance, the investment profit of Altshuler Shaham was listed as 79.9 million shekels, while the correct amount is 4,079.9 million. Harel's figures were corrected from 648.9 to 1,648.9 million. Total profit in pension and savings funds was revised from 3,249.6 to 8,249.6 million shekels. The program's total accumulated profit is about 8.85 billion shekels. Since its launch in January 2017 through the end of 2025, about 25.4 billion shekels have been transferred into the programs, of which 17.7 billion were contributed by the institute and 7.7 billion by parents. In 2025, 3.56 billion was transferred, and there were 3,633,573 active accounts. 84% of programs are managed by funds. Acting CEO Tzvi Cohen urged parents to be more active in choosing their savings route and making additional contributions.
