Bill Maher goes after antisemites: "You changed the definition of genocide, you idiots who don't understand anything"
American television host Bill Maher used the closing monologue of his show to attack what he described as moral confusion in the West and the Democratic Party regarding terrorism, defending Israel's right to self-defense while rejecting claims of genocide in Gaza.
American television host Bill Maher devoted the closing monologue of his show ('New Rules') to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, while sharply criticizing what he defined as moral confusion in the West and the Democratic Party regarding terrorism, which he said peaked in the attitude toward the war in the Gaza Strip. Maher defended Israel's right to defend itself and directly attacked claims that genocide is being committed: 'This is not genocide. This is a counterattack in a war, a war that has been waged against Israel since 1948.' He criticized artists who adopted the narrative, including rapper Macklemore. Maher dismissed accusations of starvation and presented data on the scope of humanitarian aid that Israel allowed into the Strip: 94,000 trucks carrying over 1.8 million tons of aid and more than 36,000 patients who left for treatment abroad. According to him, the claim that genocide is occurring in Gaza is 'a lie that can be easily proven,' and he linked the genocide libel to the global wave of antisemitism.
