Bennett vs. Eisenkot: "The moment you start with a 30% exemption, you know how it will end"
Yashar party chairman Naftali Bennett presented his "security concept" ahead of the elections, promising to break four paradigms, including reversing the equation with Iran: "Any Hezbollah fire will lead to our strike on Iran." He criticized remarks by Yoram Cohen, a member of Eisenkot's party, who agreed to a draft exemption for 30% of young Haredi men, saying: "The moment you start with ideas like a 30% exemption, we all know from experience how it will end."
Yashar party chairman Naftali Bennett presented his "security concept" today (Wednesday) ahead of the elections, at a conference held by his party. At the start of his speech, he charged that "what collapsed on October 7 was not just the defense line opposite Gaza," but "a whole security concept that Netanyahu instilled for years." He promised "to break four paradigms," including reversing the equation with Iran: "Any Hezbollah fire will lead to our strike on Iran." He also promised to define Qatar as an "enemy state," remove Turkey and Qatar from Gaza and bring Egypt in instead, and define the threat of illegal weapons as "security-related, not criminal." Bennett criticized remarks by Yoram Cohen, a member of Gadi Eisenkot's party, who agreed to a draft exemption for 30% of young Haredi men, saying: "The moment you start with ideas like a 30% exemption, committees and outlines, we were all there, and we know from experience exactly how it will end." He promised to enlist all 100,000 young Haredi men "without exemptions and without tricks."
