Bennett declares: "I will not do anything that prevents the replacement of the government"

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, in an extensive interview with 'Weekend News', commits not to be an obstacle to the formation of a new government, even if he has to accept a minor role. Bennett attacks Netanyahu's handling of Iran, describes a brief and disappointing transition meeting, and elaborates on the personal threats he received from Netanyahu before the formation of the change government.

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was interviewed this evening (Saturday) on 'Weekend News' on Channel 12, marking the release of his book 'Bennett, Hour of Truth'. Bennett declared that he would do nothing to prevent the replacement of the current government, saying: "If I need to be in the most junior position in the world – so be it." He described the brief transition meeting with Netanyahu in June 2021, which lasted only about half an hour, and his disappointment at Netanyahu's lack of preparedness on the Iran issue. Bennett said that Netanyahu refused to provide information on the Iranian nuclear program and preferred to discuss a personal request to remain in the Prime Minister's residence on Balfour Street. Bennett revealed that Netanyahu repeatedly threatened him with 'drones' and a personal smear campaign if he formed an alternative government, and that he did not correctly assess the intensity of the attack awaiting him. He also harshly criticized MK Idit Silman, about whom he said: "I feel sorry for her... there's nothing inside there."
