Ben Gvir fires back at Eisenkot: 'You left Nasrallah alive'

Minister Ben Gvir responded sharply to MK Eisenkot's remarks calling him an 'anti-leader', and pulled out a video from the Second Lebanon War in which Eisenkot, as head of the Operations Division, prevented the assassination of Nasrallah on 'moral' grounds. Ben Gvir accused that same morality of leaving Nasrallah alive and causing the deaths of hundreds of Israelis.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir responded sharply to MK Gadi Eisenkot's remarks, in which Eisenkot called him an 'anti-leader' and criticized his conduct. In response, Ben Gvir pulled out a video from the Second Lebanon War (2006), in which Eisenkot, as head of the Intelligence Directorate, boasts of preventing the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah on 'moral' grounds. Ben Gvir accused: 'That same "morality" left Nasrallah alive, and because of it hundreds of northern residents and soldiers were murdered by Hezbollah.' He added that Eisenkot tried to instill this defeatist approach also in the current war, but his departure from the cabinet allowed the elimination of Nasrallah 'with great force.' The confrontation reflects the political tension surrounding the management of the war and the handling of Hezbollah.
