Ben Gurion Airport rises to first place in global disruption index: "We lost thousands of shekels, and we're still here"

Ben Gurion Airport has topped the global disruption index of Flightradar24, scoring 5.0 in both takeoffs and landings. Passengers report lengthy delays, waiting over two hours for luggage, and flight cancellations. The Hader family, waiting nearly a full day, spoke of losing thousands of shekels and purchasing new tickets after their original flight was canceled.

Ben Gurion Airport rose this morning to the top of the global disruption index of the Flightradar24 website, with a maximum score of 5.0 in both takeoffs and landings. The index weighs delays, average delay duration, and cancellations. In the passenger hall, announcements of delays are repeated over and over, passengers wait over two hours for luggage, and some flights from yesterday have yet to depart. The Hader family from Kfar Haroeh said they arrived at Terminal 3 yesterday afternoon and found the airport closed. Their flight to Vienna was canceled, and they purchased new tickets to Salzburg, which was also delayed. "We lost a lot of money in this crazy event - the money for the hotel in Vienna is gone, the money for the car rental is gone," said mother Rinat. The management of the Israel Airports Authority blamed the workers' union for the disruptions, while union chairman Pinchas Idan claimed a shortage of manpower. In the Likud party, an intention was announced to oust Idan from his party membership.
