At a ceremony for swearing in new lawyers held this evening (Tuesday) at the Binyanei Ha'uma in Jerusalem, Supreme Court President Justice Yitzhak Amit chose to conclude his remarks with a quote from the film "Legally Blonde." Amit noted that the film celebrates 25 years since its release, and recounted the character of Elle Woods, played by Reese Witherspoon, who comes to study law at Harvard and proves herself. He referred to the closing scene where Elle delivers a speech and quotes Aristotle: "The law is reason free from passion," but adds that passion is a key component. Amit quoted Elle's three lessons: first impressions are not always correct; trust people; and believe in yourselves. He wished the graduates success on their new path.
