Basem Naim: "Peace Council" bears responsibility for continued killing in Gaza

Hamas political bureau member Basem Naim held the Peace Council responsible for the continued casualties in the Gaza Strip, following an attack on a café in Gaza City that resulted in the martyrdom of 6 Palestinians, including a child, and the injury of 10 others, 3 of whom were described as critical. In press statements on Tuesday, Naim said the attack represented "treachery" against civilians, considering that some statements by council members could be understood as a green light for continued killing, based on what he described as lies of the government of Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Hamas leader stressed that the Palestinian people do not bear responsibility for Netanyahu's electoral success or failure, calling on the council to oblige the Israeli occupation government to implement the ceasefire agreement and adhere to its terms. Naim affirmed that the continuation of attacks amid talk of agreements and truce efforts undermines ceasefire efforts, demanding that relevant parties assume their responsibilities and work to ensure the implementation of the agreement and the protection of Palestinian civilians.
