Bar Kupershtein Struggles to Process: 'I Love You Forever'

Former hostage Bar Kupershtein bids farewell to his grandmother Faina, who passed away, in an Instagram story: 'I am so happy you got to see that I returned, I love you forever.' His father Tal wrote a heartbreaking post. Faina, married to a Holocaust survivor, spoke to the media about her longing during the captivity.

Former hostage Bar Kupershtein shared last night (Saturday night, July 25, 2026) that his grandmother, Faina, had passed away. In a story he posted on Instagram, against a backdrop of shared photos, he wrote: 'How I will miss you, how you fought for me. I am so happy you got to see that I returned, I love you forever.' His father, Tal, also eulogized: 'My mother, my beloved, and our beloved grandmother. I still can't process that you left us. My heart is broken. You merited to see him return.' Faina was married to Michael, a Holocaust survivor. Bar lived with them before the abduction, after his father was injured in a car accident. During the captivity, Faina spoke to the media about the pain, calling what her grandson went through 'a Holocaust worse than what we had.' The couple set an empty chair for Bar at meals and kept his room. In April 2025, they participated in the March of the Living at Auschwitz. After his release, they thanked the Israeli public for their support.
