Bituah Leumi announced the payment of the annual education grant to families with children ahead of the new school year. The payment amount has been increased and will be 1,204 shekels per child. The money will be transferred automatically to the bank accounts of most recipients already in August. The grant is intended for single parents (divorced, living separately, widowed, or unmarried) if their children were born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2020. Also eligible are families with four or more children under 18 who receive one of the social benefits. The goal of the grant is to help cover the costs of textbooks, school supplies, backpacks, and clothing. The agency is sending letters and SMS messages to verify data. In most cases, the funds will be transferred to the same account where the child allowance is deposited. Recipients are advised not to visit branches until August 12. Certain categories of citizens, including new immigrants and those applying for the first time after divorce, must submit an application themselves. The application can be submitted within 18 months from the date the right arises.
