Attempted murder in a planned ambush - because of a romantic relationship with their sister: the sentence handed down in Jerusalem
Two brothers were sentenced to 19 and 14.5 years in prison for a premeditated attempted murder of a man who was in a romantic relationship with their sister. They lured him to a parking lot using a fake TikTok profile, shot him 11 times, chased him, and violently attacked him. The victim required a splenectomy.
The Jerusalem District Court sentenced Ahmed to 19 years in prison and his brother to 14.5 years, after they were convicted of a premeditated attempted murder of a man who had a romantic relationship with their sister. In April 2023, Ahmed's then-girlfriend was recruited to contact the victim through a fictitious TikTok account and bring him to a parking lot near the Mar Elias Monastery. The brothers, along with others, blocked his car, attacked him with sticks, and broke windows. Ahmed fired 11 shots at the vehicle, one hitting the driver's chest, causing him to lose control and crash into a pole. They then chased the victim, beat him with iron bars, took his mobile phone, and Ahmed fired at his upper body at close range. The victim was seriously injured and required a splenectomy. The conviction included attempted murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, carrying a weapon, and obstruction of justice. The planning involved dedicated phones, a preliminary reconnaissance, camouflage measures, clubs and weapons, changing license plates, and real-time coordination. The defendants did not confess or express remorse. They were ordered to pay 135,000 shekels in compensation to the victim and his friend. Another defendant was convicted of assault and obstruction and sentenced to three months in prison.
