Israel Railways announced a temporary suspension of train services in northern Israel at the end of this week. The reason is scheduled maintenance work on the railway tracks and security measures. The changes will begin on the morning of August 20 and end on August 23 at 04:00. As part of the work, the Modi'in-Merkaz — Nahariya and Be'er Sheva-Merkaz — Karmiel/Nahariya lines will be shortened. Trains on both routes will terminate at Haifa-Merkaz HaShmona station. Service on the Haifa-Hof HaCarmel — Karmiel and Atlit — Beit She'an lines will be completely canceled for the entire weekend. As a result, 12 stations will be temporarily closed: Nahariya, Akko, Ahihud, Karmiel, Kiryat Motzkin, Kiryat Haim, Hutzot HaMifratz, Merkazit HaMifratz, Yokneam-Kfar Yehoshua, Migdal HaEmek-Kfar Baruch, Afula, and Beit She'an. The company noted that the work was scheduled for the summer months due to lower demand. As compensation, free shuttle buses will be launched, and regular routes will be reinforced. Additional disruptions are expected in the center of the country due to the final stages of the "Highway 431" project.
