At least two killed, 14 wounded in deadly bomb attack in predominantly Druze area near Damascus

At Mujtahid Hospital in Damascus, Bassel Imad called the bombing sadistic; his cousin Safouh was driving the vehicle and lay injured. The targeted street is narrow and includes shops and street vendors. The attack occurs amid clashes between factions within Syria's Druze community and the country's new Islamist leadership. A UN investigation in March found more than 1,700 people, most of them civilian members of the Druze religious sect and some Bedouin community members, were killed in the southern Sweida province in July 2025. The UN said Syrian government forces, tribal fighters, and Druze armed groups may have committed war crimes.
