Asus has announced the Oxiis E250G1 Intelligent Bike Booster, an attachable accessory for most types of bicycles that converts them into electric-assist bikes. The device provides up to 50 kilometers of electric assistance with a top speed of 32 kilometers per hour, according to a report by Gizmochina. It consists of a motor and a removable battery, both mountable on the seat tube. The motor transfers power to the rear wheel via a set of rollers, eliminating the need to replace the chain or wheel hub. Asus says the system works with city bikes, road bikes, and folding bikes. Performance-wise, it offers continuous power of 250 watts, with a peak of 500 watts. It also features Adaptive Boost Technology, which reads road incline and adjusts assistance automatically. Users can choose among three modes: Eco for energy saving, Normal for daily use, and Sport for steep roads. The device uses a 158.4 Wh battery that can be detached for independent charging. Range reaches about 50 kilometers in Eco mode, dropping to around 10 kilometers in Sport. The battery takes about two hours for a full charge and supports USB Type-C Power Delivery charging at 100 watts. The entire unit weighs about 3.7 kilograms. It fits wheels from 16 to 29 inches, plus 700C. Asus has not revealed the price or market release date.
