Ashdod resident arrested on suspicion of transporting illegal residents, attempting to run over police officer, and fleeing

An Ashdod resident was arrested today (Monday) on suspicion of transporting two illegal residents, attempting to run over a police officer, and fleeing. The incident began during a routine vehicle check by police officers from the Modi'in station in the Central District. The officers noticed a suspicious vehicle, and during the check, two illegal residents were found inside and removed from the car. At that point, according to suspicion, the driver pressed the accelerator, sped toward the officer, and fled the scene. The officer fired at the vehicle's wheels in an attempt to stop the escape, but the driver continued southward. Using technological means, the officers located the vehicle in Ashdod and arrested the suspect near his brother's home. During a search of the brother's home, another illegal resident was found, allegedly employed at a renovation site. The brother was arrested on suspicion of employing an illegal resident. In total, the driver, his brother, and three illegal residents were arrested. The driver's vehicle was seized, and the suspects will be brought to court for a remand extension.
