Argument in lobby ends with torching of bike room in Bat Yam: 'I was nervous'

An indictment was filed against Tamir Nagosa, a resident of Bat Yam, for setting fire to the door of a bicycle room in a residential building's parking garage after an argument in the lobby. The fire was ignited about ten meters from the gas room, where eight gas canisters were stored. Nagosa fled on his electric bicycle and smashed his phone. He confessed to the acts and claimed he acted out of nerves.

An indictment was filed with the Tel Aviv District Court against Tamir Nagosa, a resident of Bat Yam, for offenses of arson, intentional damage, and obstruction of justice. According to the indictment, about two weeks ago, an argument developed between Nagosa and a woman pushing a wheelchair in the lobby of a building on Herzl Street in Bat Yam, after he placed his electric bicycle at the entrance. Following the argument, Nagosa approached the locked bicycle room, called a friend who arrived with a wooden stick, and the two tried to break the door. After failing, Nagosa broke the door handle and damaged the locking mechanism. Later, he returned with his friend carrying a liter-and-a-half bottle of gasoline, poured the contents on the door and floor, pushed his friend who tried to dissuade him, and ignited the gasoline-soaked floor. The fire reached the friend's legs, who fled from the flames. The fire's epicenter was about ten meters from the gas room where eight gas canisters weighing 48 kilograms each were stored. Five vehicles and a motorcycle were parked in the garage. The friend extinguished the fire using a fire hose. Nagosa fled on his electric bicycle, and the next morning smashed his mobile phone. In his investigation, he confessed to the acts and claimed he acted out of nerves. The prosecution requested to extend his detention until the end of proceedings.
