Philadelphia police are conducting a manhunt for a young man who was documented last Wednesday (August 12) wearing a mask resembling the doll from the horror film series 'Chucky', chasing passersby and threatening them near City Hall. According to police, the incidents occurred in the early morning hours and lasted about 20 minutes. The suspect, estimated to be 16-20 years old, approached at least six people in central Philadelphia and tried to scare or provoke them. In one case, documented on security cameras, the suspect approached a woman who went for a run, held a phone in front of her, and asked her twice: 'Are you ready to die?'. The woman began running while screaming for help and injured her leg. A Philadelphia police commander, Jason Smith, said the suspect likely filmed the encounters, and the intelligence unit is checking if the acts were part of a social media trend. Before that, the suspect entered a branch of the 'Dunkin' chain, but employees refused to serve him. Police said there is no evidence he carried a weapon, but while threatening the woman he held his hand behind his back. The young man is expected to face charges for threats, harassment, assault, and endangering lives. Only one of the victims filed a complaint.
