The incident occurred on Saturday evening when a violent confrontation between Israelis and Palestinians escalated, including stone-throwing. During the clash, a terrorist stole a weapon from a 25-year-old Israeli, a soldier on leave, who was grazing sheep in the area. The soldier was hit in the head by a stone and evacuated in moderate condition to the hospital. Immediately after the incident, forces searched the area, located the weapon, and arrested two terrorists. Subsequently, Duvdevan fighters arrested another terrorist in Yatta, and a fourth terrorist surrendered to Civil Administration forces. All detainees were transferred for questioning. Initially, it was reported that the incident began with stone-throwing, but later the military said it was a premeditated attack by terrorists.
