Apple will launch a new operating system – these are the upgrades for your iPhone

Apple will release the final version of iOS 27 this evening (Monday), featuring an AI-based Siri voice assistant, a Liquid Glass design upgrade, and significant performance improvements. The system is available for free download on supported iPhone models.

Apple will release the final version of the iOS 27 operating system to the general public this evening (Monday, September 14, 2026). The update, available for free download via the Settings menu, is considered one of the most significant software overhauls in the company's history. The main upgrade is the launch of Siri AI, a revamped voice assistant operating similarly to ChatGPT, capable of understanding personal contexts, being aware of on-screen content, and performing complex actions within apps (available in English only for iPhone 15 Pro and above). Alongside this, the Photos app receives smart expansion and framing tools, and the Image Playground app can generate photorealistic images. The Liquid Glass design language has been polished, including more uniform reflections, improved contrast, and a new transparency slider. The system shows a leap in performance: app opening speed has increased by up to 30%, photo loading in the gallery is 70% faster, and AirDrop throughput has been upgraded by up to 80%. A notable innovation is the iPhone Handoff feature for switching between two iPhones on the same line. In terms of privacy, the Find My app will allow personalized location sharing. The system is compatible with iPhone 11 models and above, but advanced AI features are reserved for iPhone 15 Pro models and above.
