The mother of a 13-year-old boy who was seriously injured in an electric bicycle accident appeals to parents, calling on them to unite and ban young children from riding electric vehicles, due to the dangers and social pressure.
The mother of a 13-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a road accident while riding an electric bicycle when a vehicle struck him, issued an appeal today (Sunday) to all parents, demanding to stop the dangerous phenomenon and unite for the protection of children. The mother said that in their home there is an absolute ban on the use of electric vehicles, but despite this, social pressure and the desire to belong led the child to take a vehicle from a friend and ride it when his parents were not by his side. As a result of the injury, the child is hospitalized, sedated and ventilated, suffering from multiple fractures to the face, crushed nasal bones, a complex fracture of the eye socket, and a fracture at the base of the skull. He underwent hours of complex surgeries during which three plates and screws were inserted into his face that will remain in his body for life, and he broke both legs, with plates and screws implanted in one of them. The mother emphasized that she is not writing to preach or blame, but out of fear of the number of children risking their lives. She called on parents to join together: "If we all decide together that children at this age do not ride electric vehicles, it will be much easier for our children to accept this boundary."
