A regular IDF soldier was arrested after a violent incident in the village of Al-Mughayyir in the Binyamin region, where he is suspected of firing at Palestinians. The IDF announced that the soldier has been suspended from service pending the investigation. According to an IDF report, forces responded several times to the area of the village following reports of clashes between Palestinians and Israeli civilians that included stone-throwing and the placement of stone barriers. Subsequently, a report was received of stones being thrown at a soldier on vacation on the outskirts of the village, who responded with gunfire, at a time when no IDF forces were at the scene. No casualties from the shooting are known. A military source stated that the soldier lives on a nearby farm and decided, along with others from the farm, to enter the town on their own and carry out the shooting in response, according to his claim, to the stone-throwing. Meanwhile, the IDF is examining a report by Palestinians that during the afternoon hours, right-wing activists set fire to agricultural areas in the Wadi al-Balat area. The incident occurs against the backdrop of a series of additional violent incidents by far-right activists against Palestinians in Judea and Samaria.
