Amnesty International issued a rare condemnation of Hamas on Friday, demanding an end to extrajudicial executions of suspected collaborators with Israel. The organization, which has frequently criticized Israel's actions in Gaza, Lebanon, and the West Bank, accused Hamas of unlawful killings, arbitrary arrests, and reprisals against Palestinian families. Amnesty documented nine extrajudicial executions and one unlawful killing after the ceasefire-hostage deal in October 2025. Those killed were members of the Dughmush family from the Al-Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, accused by Hamas of collaborating with Israel. On 13 October 2025, eight unarmed, shackled members of the family were publicly executed after being promised a fair trial. The executions were recorded and circulated online by Hamas-affiliated media. Between August 2024 and early 2026, Hamas-affiliated forces were responsible for at least 60 of 249 extrajudicial killings, according to a UN report. Amnesty confirmed that Hamas opened preliminary internal investigations but received no evidence that those responsible were held accountable. The organization's senior director, Erika Guevara-Rosas, called on Hamas to break with impunity and ensure truth and justice for victims.
