Americans' attitude toward Netanyahu has sharply changed - poll

A YouGov poll found that 46% of Americans support detaining Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the US, 28% oppose, and 26% are undecided. Support for arrest is higher among women (48%), Black and Hispanic respondents (50%), youth aged 18-44 (51%), and Democrats (63%). Among Republicans, 28% also supported the measure. 45% of respondents consider Netanyahu guilty of ICC charges.

A poll conducted by YouGov found that 46% of Americans believe US authorities should detain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the country. 28% of respondents opposed such a measure, and 26% were undecided. The survey was conducted after New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani again raised the issue of possible detention of Netanyahu in the city. Support for arrest varies significantly by demographic group. Among women, 48% supported the idea, compared to 43% among men. The share of opponents among men is significantly higher — 36% versus 20% among women. Among white Americans, 43% support arrest, among Black and Hispanic respondents — 50%. 33% of whites, 11% of Blacks, and 20% of Hispanics oppose. The age gap is particularly noticeable: among Americans aged 18-44, 51% support arrest, while among those over 65, only 35%. By region, the highest support is in the Midwest (48%), the lowest in the South (44%). Among Democrats, 63% support arrest, among Republicans — 28%, which was an unexpected signal. When asked about Netanyahu's guilt on International Criminal Court charges, 45% answered affirmatively, 21% negatively, and 33% were unsure. Among youth, confidence in guilt reaches 49-50%, among Democrats — 67%, Republicans — 24%.
