Almost 3 years after Oct. 7, 'Hostages Square' becomes official name of Tel Aviv Museum plaza

On Tuesday, the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality officially renamed the Tel Aviv Museum plaza to 'Hostages Square,' nearly three years after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack. The plaza has served as a central gathering place for hostage families and their supporters, hosting mass rallies, Kabbalat Shabbat ceremonies, and installations. Mayor Ron Huldai unveiled the new signs and met with hostage families, saying the renaming ensures that the chapter from October 7, 2023 until the return of the final hostage, Ran Gvili, on January 26, 2026, will be remembered for generations. Huldai praised the 'heroic families' and said the square became a center of solidarity and an uncompromising demand to bring all hostages home. The official recognition honors the public's adopted name and preserves the site's significance for future generations.
