The Director-General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, Dr. Ismail Al-Thawabta, affirmed that the occupation's continued policy of assassinating and targeting Palestinian police officers reflects a clear and premeditated plan to spread chaos and create a state of security breakdown within Palestinian society. In a press statement to 'Palestine', Al-Thawabta explained that the police force is a purely civilian body tasked with maintaining community security and providing basic services to citizens, stressing that the repeated and systematic targeting of its personnel aims primarily at striking the internal front and undermining the work of civilian institutions that seek to preserve societal stability and manage daily life affairs. He added that these ongoing crimes against police and civilian crews provide conclusive evidence that the occupation is not seeking any horizon for de-escalation, but rather is diligently striving to prolong the conflict and continue the genocide war and the killing machine against the Palestinian people, disregarding all laws and norms that protect civilian institutions. Al-Thawabta called on the mediators and the parties sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to take serious and effective action and pressure the occupation to stop the crime of genocide, killing, and ongoing assassinations, and to ensure that criminals do not escape punishment.
