Ahead of Rome talks: US warned Hezbollah - 'Any attack will open the gates of hell'
The Lebanese newspaper Nidaa al-Watan reports that the US has conveyed a sharp warning to Hezbollah: any rocket or drone fired at Israel will open the 'gates of hell' on the organization and Lebanon. The warning comes ahead of the Rome talks, where the issue of oversight over pilot zones in southern Lebanon will be discussed.
The Lebanese newspaper Nidaa al-Watan reported this morning (Sunday) that the US has conveyed a sharp warning to Hezbollah through Lebanon: any launch of a rocket or drone toward Israel will open the 'gates of hell' on Hezbollah and Lebanon. According to the message, in such a case Netanyahu will not comply with Trump's requests for a ceasefire, and Trump will not comply with Lebanon's requests – and the fighting will not be limited to the area south of the Litani. The warning comes ahead of the Rome talks at the beginning of the month, where the main clause is determining the body that will oversee the implementation of pilot zones in southern Lebanon. Lebanon insists on UNIFIL, but Israel has reservations due to past experiences. The US has refused to deploy its own forces in the area. Additionally, Beirut is expected to host diplomatic visits from Saudi and Qatari envoys this week, and President Aoun will visit Turkey.
