Ahead of elections, Hamas calls for registration in the electoral register

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called on the Palestinian people to expedite registration and update their data in the electoral register, ensuring their right to participate in the upcoming Palestinian elections. In a press statement on Tuesday, the movement said that registration in the electoral register represents the "basic gateway" to exercising the right to choose and participate in national decision-making, and electing the Palestinian people's representatives in official institutions, foremost among them the Legislative Council and the Palestinian National Council. Hamas affirmed that participation in elections contributes to strengthening popular participation and enshrining the will of the Palestinian people as a source of legitimacy for national institutions. It stressed that the current stage requires expanding national participation and strengthening the unity of the Palestinian people, and building effective national institutions that derive their legitimacy from the free will of the people, express their aspirations, and preserve their rights and national interests, away from any guardianship or interference in their national decision. The movement concluded its statement by emphasizing the importance of participating in the electoral register as a basic step to ensure participation in upcoming electoral entitlements.
