Participants who took rentosertib recorded a decrease in biological age indicators, while in the placebo and no-therapy groups, indicators remained largely unchanged or increased. Researchers suggest that the drug's effect may involve multiple aging mechanisms. However, the authors emphasize that improvements in biological clock indicators do not prove actual slowing of aging or rejuvenation of the body. Biological clocks are models that analyze DNA, blood composition, and other parameters, but their accuracy is debated among specialists, and there is no single reliable method for assessing biological age. Rentosertib is in the experimental development stage and requires additional clinical trials to confirm its efficacy and safety.
