The secret negotiations for a plea deal in the Bild affair collapsed after State Attorney Amit Isman vetoed the agreement that had been formulated. Central District Attorney Haim Wisemonzki had reached an agreement with Jonathan Uri'ach's defense attorney, under which Uri'ach would serve 9 months of community service. Wisemonzki brought the proposal to higher levels for approval. Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara supported the deal, but in a meeting with the State Attorney, Isman expressed opposition and imposed a veto. He said he would agree to a deal only if Uri'ach were sentenced to 12 months of actual imprisonment. Uri'ach rejected the offer, and no new negotiations have taken place since. The indictment filed attributes to Uri'ach two offenses, each carrying a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, along with additional offenses. In response to the publication, the Attorney General and the State Attorney stated: "The publication is false." No response was received from Jonathan Uri'ach.
