The defense argued that it was a 'single incident' due to the identical pattern, and that it was not sophisticated theft but rather taking advantage of an opportunity. The defendant said he is not addicted to drugs but to gambling, which led him into debt, and claimed he was threatened and that people wanted to kill him over his debts. In the end, he expressed remorse. The judge set a single sentencing range for all offenses, took into account his early confession and the start of a treatment process, but refrained from imposing a fine due to his financial situation, and clarified that victims can file civil claims.
