The IDF announced today (Wednesday) that mandatory service soldiers will return to wearing dress uniforms at official ceremonies, after nearly three years in which they were not worn due to the war. According to military orders, the representative uniforms will be worn at state ceremonies, national ceremonies, official events led by heads of state, change-of-command ceremonies, graduation ceremonies at Bahad 1 and branch completion courses, as well as at funerals and memorial services. Additionally, the uniforms will be worn at official receptions for commanders and delegations from foreign armies, military rallies, heritage evenings, official civilian appearances on behalf of the IDF, graduation ceremonies for training and courses, rank and decoration ceremonies, swearing-in and pin or badge ceremonies, and unit opening or closing ceremonies. The IDF stated that the move is intended to restore the emphasis on military and representative appearance at official events and to strengthen adherence to dress and ceremony regulations, alongside a return to routine and military traditions. The decision comes after in April 2025 the IDF announced that combat soldiers could move outside bases in tactical uniforms, while dress uniforms would be reserved for ceremonies.
