After more than a decade: the moving performance of the legendary Israeli band
Danny Dothan, lead singer of the legendary band HaClique, launched his debut book and performed the band's hit "Don't Light Me a Candle" for the first time in over a decade, as a tribute to his late friend Eli Abramov.
Danny Dothan, lead singer of the legendary band HaClique, launched his debut book last Tuesday (August 18, 2026), titled after the band's hit "Don't Light Me a Candle" and edited by Yael Katz Ben Shalom. At the end of the event, Dothan took the stage and performed songs by HaClique for the first time in nearly 11 years, since the death of his bandmate Eli Abramov. The central performance was the hit "Don't Light Me a Candle," which Dothan had not performed in over a decade. Accompanied by keyboards from Yasmin Even, who performed with HaClique in their final tours, it was a moving and significant moment for the band's fans. HaClique was founded in 1980 by Dothan and Abramov, blending new wave, post-punk, and rock. Their first two albums, "Mom I Don't Want to Quit" (1981) and "Crowded World" (1983), became milestones in Israeli rock. Abramov passed away in 2015 after a serious illness, preceded by drummer Jean-Jacques Goldberg and keyboardist Rona Verad.
