After calling on Zini to resign: Former Shin Bet official joins Liberman

Dvir Kariv, who served 23 years in the Shin Bet, joins Yisrael Beiteinu and supports Avigdor Liberman for prime minister. Kariv called on Shin Bet chief David Zini to resign, claiming his loyalty to the elected government is insufficient. According to Kariv, "When the Shin Bet chief says that the main reason he agreed to accept the position is his ability to be loyal to the elected government, a flashing red light goes off. In a democratic state, the Shin Bet chief is subordinate to the elected government, but loyal to the state, the law, democracy, and the security of Israeli citizens." Kariv criticizes the government for its failure in the war and its refusal to take responsibility. He notes that his students fell in the war, families lost their most precious, and a failing government refused to take responsibility. Kariv defines Yisrael Beiteinu as "right-wing, Zionist, security-oriented, statesmanlike, and liberal."
