Abu Raad.. The father who carried the memory of his two martyred sons

Israeli occupation forces assassinated Fathi Khazem (Abu Raad) at dawn yesterday in his home in the Jenin camp, after he became a national symbol following the martyrdom of his two sons, Raad and Abdul Rahman, in two separate operations in 2022. The assassination raises questions about the Palestinian Authority's inability to protect citizens.

Israeli occupation forces assassinated Fathi Khazem (Abu Raad) at dawn yesterday, Friday, in his home in the Jenin camp. Khazem was not just a father who lost two of his sons in the context of the conflict, but became a national symbol in the city of Jenin after the martyrdom of his son Raad, who carried out a shooting attack on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv in April 2022, followed by the martyrdom of his second son, Abdul Rahman, during an occupation incursion into the Jenin camp in September of the same year. The assassination raises questions about the inability of the Palestinian Authority and its security services to protect citizens, especially since Khazem previously worked in the Authority's National Security forces. Observers believe that the assassination confirms the continuation of the policy of settling scores with symbols of resistance and the national cause.
