About a year and three months earlier, his wife, social activist Suzanne Abd al-Qader Bshara, 51, was murdered while returning from work to her home in Tira. According to investigation materials, a gunman ambushed her, shot at her while she was in her car, and when she tried to flee wounded to the yard of a nearby house, he chased her and carried out a kill shot. Investigators determined that this was not a deterrent shooting but a premeditated assassination. Ziad then spoke of the loss, saying his wife had no conflicts with anyone and was active in the movement "Women Making Peace." Suzanne herself described the support she received from her husband and her belief in peace and coexistence. Police are examining the possibility that the current murder is part of a blood feud. The murder raises the number of killings in the Arab community since the beginning of the year to 157, compared to 156 in the corresponding period last year, and at the end of 2025 the count stood at a record 255.
