The 'Haredi Public' party, led by Moti Leithner, announced today (Sunday) its run for the 26th Knesset and launched its election campaign at an event in Beit Shemesh. Hundreds of activists, rabbis, and public figures attended the event. The list will include Ashkenazim, Sephardim, and Hasidim. The campaign will focus on preserving the world of Torah alongside promoting solutions on issues of conscription, integrating mathematics and English studies into Talmud Torahs, and employment solutions. Leithner harshly attacked the veteran Haredi leadership, saying, "Responsibility is a supreme value for Haredim in all generations. Unfortunately, the veteran political leadership has forgotten what responsibility is." He referred to the current war and the terrible massacre, claiming that "the heavy disasters skipped over the head of the detached political leadership." Leithner accused the leadership of turning "detachment and stupidity into a way of life" and warned of an "existential threat" to Haredi society. "Our streets are being handed over to extremists, competing over who will use harsher violence," he said. He accused "the representatives of United Torah Judaism and Shas who went astray after the extremists of the Jerusalem faction," and stated that "a vote for United Torah Judaism and Shas is a vote for the thugs of the Jerusalem faction." Leithner presented his policy principles: "Whoever studies will receive full and complete protection. Whoever does not study will serve. Not just a Haredi brigade will be established—a Haredi division will be established."
