A string of tragedies during summer vacation: children aged 5, 12, and 16 killed in three separate accidents across the country

Three minors were killed today (Sunday) in three separate accidents across the country. A 5-year-old child was left in a car in Lod and died of heatstroke; a 12-year-old boy from Modi'in Illit drowned in the Jordan River; and a 16-year-old boy from Katzrin fell from a height in the Keshet Cave in the Western Galilee. All incidents occurred during the summer vacation.

Three minors were killed today (Sunday) in three separate accidents across the country, in what is described as a string of tragic events during the summer vacation. A 5-year-old child was left for about two hours in the family car in Lod, was found unconscious with signs of heatstroke, and his death was determined at Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh). A 12-year-old boy from Modi'in Illit, Elchanan Karni, drowned in the Jordan River near Yesud HaMa'ala during a family vacation, after his tracks were lost while he was on a watercraft. A 16-year-old boy from Katzrin, Yehonatan Efrayim Klimian, fell from a height of about 30-40 meters during canyoning in the Keshet Cave in the Western Galilee. In all cases, MDA teams and rescue forces operated but had to determine death at the scene or at the hospital.
