The Danube's water level has dropped to an unprecedented low, exposing a rare find on the riverbed: a German military motorcycle from World War II, model DKW NZ 350-1, found opposite the parliament building in Budapest. The motorcycle, specially developed for military use and produced from 1944, was preserved almost intact thanks to the mud that protected it. Beneath it were found the remains of two Wehrmacht soldiers, whose identification tags were well preserved, potentially allowing their identification. In addition, anti-tank mines, grenades, and artillery shells were found on the riverbed, suggesting the area was used as a site for dumping war debris. The soldiers' remains will be brought for burial at the German military cemetery in Budaörs, where more than 16,000 German soldiers are buried.
