A Day After Shivah: Protest Outside Home of Rabbi Farber's Successor

A day after the conclusion of the shivah for Yaakov Farber, founder of 'Ma'alot Tzur', dozens of extremists protested near the home of Hershy Landau in Komemiyut, claiming he is set to lead the organization. Police deployed in large forces and secured the house, after it was agreed with organizers that protesters would not approach the site.

A day after the conclusion of the shivah for Yaakov Farber, founder of the organization 'Ma'alot Tzur', dozens of extremists arrived today to protest near the home of Hershy Landau in the community of Komemiyut. According to the protesters, Landau, who works for the organization, is expected to lead it after Farber's death. 'Ma'alot Tzur', established by Farber, is considered one of the pioneering bodies in integrating Haredim into the IDF, and over the years has recruited hundreds of Haredim for dedicated service tracks. Ahead of the protest, organizers distributed pamphlets calling on the public to come to the site, including Landau's phone number, presenting him as the one destined to replace Farber. Additionally, the distributors used a derogatory nickname for the late Farber, writing: 'Shari who died this week, be'ezrat Hashem'. The protest is held in full coordination with the Israel Police, which deployed in large forces at the scene and is securing Landau's home out of concern for attempts by protesters to approach the house or disturb the peace. Before the protest began, police representatives held a meeting with the protest organizer, during which it was agreed that protesters would not approach Landau's home.
