A $2 Million Gift: The Grand Present from Mexican Jewry to Yahalom Fighters

A new fighters' park for the Yahalom unit was inaugurated in Mexico with an investment of about 2 million shekels from donations by Mexican Jewry. The park will serve for the well-being of the fighters, ceremonies, and memorial events, and at its center will be placed a replica of the 'Ner Tamid' monument in memory of the unit's fallen.

A new fighters' park dedicated to the Yahalom unit of the Combat Engineering Corps was inaugurated in Mexico, with an investment of about 2 million shekels. The funding came from donations by the 'Yachad LeMa'an HaChayal' Mexico organization and KKL Mexico, and the executing body was the Association for the Well-Being of the Soldier. The park is intended to serve as an active social center for the unit's fighters and commanders, and as a venue for memorial events, excellence ceremonies, unit evenings, and personal and community events. At the center of the park, a replica of the 'Ner Tamid' monument, originally about six meters high, will be placed in memory of the unit's fallen. Even before the official inauguration, several events took place there, including a henna ceremony for a female officer from the unit. The project symbolizes the commitment of the Jewish community in Mexico to Israel and its soldiers.
