The marine rescue teams of the Khan Younis municipality, in the southern Gaza Strip, managed to rescue 941 people from drowning during July 2026, as part of their ongoing efforts to secure the summer season and protect citizens on the city's beach. The municipality said that 185 marine lifeguards are involved in securing the beach, which stretches 9 kilometers, spread along the coast and working daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The Khan Younis municipality stressed that rescue crews continue their duties despite scarce resources and capabilities, to ensure the safety of beachgoers and reduce drowning incidents during the summer season.
